Douglas Budget - August 29, 2007Cremation has taken place for Joyce Marie Briggs who died Aug. 10, 2007, at Wyoming Medical Center as a result of complications of diabetes.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Aug. 31 at Glenrock Community Baptist Church. Family and friends will gather afterward at the Four Aces in Glenrock.
Joyce was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Denver to Leon N. Hamilton Jr. and Eloise B. Miller. She grew up and graduated from high school in Denver.
After high school, she began working at JC Penney. She married Tom Caudill, and they had two children. Joyce and Tom later divorced, and she moved to Douglas with her children. In Douglas she began a career as a hair dresser and was a great mom. She enjoyed shopping, bowling, dancing, ceramics and crafts.
She later moved to Glenrock and worked at Sam's Club in Casper. She married Garry Briggs. Following Garry's death, Joyce later retired and continued to bowl on many teams. She also won numerous awards at the Wyoming State Fair. She had two cats, Gracie and Mesha, whom she loved as children of her own. She also cared for several stray cats, deer and other animals which frequented her back yard.
For the past three years, she shared her life with Dale Pryich of Casper. He loved her dearly and she loved to spend time with him. She will be sorely missed by all those she touched during her life.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Leon N. Hamilton Jr. and Eloise B. Miller; and husband Garry Briggs.
She is survived by her children, Lisa and husband Gilbert Arellano of Douglas and Chris and wife Francie Caudill of Sioux Falls, S.D.; step-children, Mike Briggs of Douglas and Shannon Briggs of Glenrock; brother Mike and wife Yvonne Miller of Denver.
Memorials to the Casper or Douglas animal shelters would be appreciated by the family.
