Douglas Budget - December 31, 2008Funeral services for Barbara Joanne Bloem, 60, were held Dec. 29 at Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas with Pastor Roy Phillips of Douglas Baptist Church officiating.
Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Barb Bloem, a resident of Douglas, died Dec. 21, 2008, at Hi-Acres Manor Nursing Center in Jamestown, N.D.
She was born Sept. 2, 1948, in Douglas, the daughter of Raymond Francis and Vada(Hoffman)Wilson. She was reared and educated in Douglas and graduated from Douglas High School.
She married Orville M. "Butch" Bloem on June 14, 1967, in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Cheyenne. She worked on the Hoffman Ranch with Butch. She then began a career in the medical field, first working as a LPN at the Converse County Memorial Hospital. She worked 29 years with the Wyoming Emergency Service for the Converse County Ambulance. She retired in 2005 as the director of the ambulance service.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose. She enjoyed crocheting, spending time with her grandson Kiefer, horses, reading, and doing puzzles.
She is survived by her children Marcie Bloem of Foxboro, Wis., and Jerad Bloem of Douglas; siblings Vickie Durfee of JamesTown, Jack Wilson of Hope, Ark., and Jim Wilson of Baytown, Texas; and grandson Kiefer Murphy of Douglas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Butch on Oct. 9, 2006; and grandson Kolby Lene.
Serving as pallbearers were Ben Henson, Jim Wilson, Mike James, Carlos Mesa, Vern Arends and Bill Morvee.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Tom Henson, Andy Henson, Kiefer Murphy, Jimmy Wilson, Shawn Durfee, Dwight Durfee, Bill Roberts, Ray Murphy Jr., Gerald Hoffman and Steve Stachowicz.
A memorial to the Douglas Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 679, Douglas, WY 82633, would be appreciated by the family.
