Douglas Budget - February 25, 2009Funeral services for Floyd John Briggs, 88, were held Feb. 20 at Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel in Douglas, with the Rev. Linda Wells of First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Briggs died Feb. 17, 2009, at Douglas Care Center.
He was born Feb. 18, 1920, in Bly, Okla., to Al and Cora (Adamson) Briggs. He was reared and educated in Childers, Okla.
He married Helen Berniece Price on Aug. 2, 1941, in Delaware, Okla. They resided in Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, Montana and Colorado, where he worked in the oilfields. They resided in Sterling, Colo., from 1956-68 at which time they moved to Douglas. He enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, and he loved his family, especially the grandchildren, dearly.
He is survived by his children, Gail(Bill)Tschacher of Douglas, Sharon(Dan) Orange of Riverton and Charles W. Briggs and fiance Joann Horner of Johnstown, Colo.; sister Alene Hughes of Nowata, Okla.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Helen on Oct. 9, 2006; and infant sons Ronald Dean Briggs and Gary Glenn Briggs.
Serving as pallbearers were Harold Johnson, Dan Orange, Bill Tschacher, Chuck Briggs, Todd Tschacher and John Stearns.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
