Funeral services for Dale L. "Roy" Anderson, 63, will be held at 2 p.m. Aug. 17 at Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas.

Rev. Martin Strom will officiate and Jim Anderson will serve as eulogist. Interment will be at Douglas Park Cemetery.

Mr. Anderson died Aug. 13 at Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.

He was born June 19, 1937, in Douglas to Robert Dale and Margaret (Carothers) Anderson. He was reared and educated in Douglas. He married Donna Bloem in Douglas on Sept. 15, 1954.

He worked for Herb Hopkins in Wheatland, Lamb Construction until 1971, then for Tommy Wilson until 1979. He started his own trucking business which he operated until 1988.

He worked for Glenrock Coal until it closed, then worked in the oil field with his sons Jeff and randy.

Mr. Anderson married Evelyn J. (Seevers) Coury on June 12, 1992 at Deadwood, S.D.

His hobbies included fishing and being outdoors. He had a great respect for nature and the land. Mr. Anderson enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren perform in rodeo and school activities and enjoyed running heavy equipment. He loved animals and took great pride in the training and care of them. He always had the ability to make people laugh at a silly joke or story.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife Evelyn of Douglas; mother Margaret Anderson of Douglas; sons Richard Anderson of Portland, Ore., Randy Anderson and Jeff Anderson of Greeley, Colo., and Kelly Anderson of Douglas; stepchildren Colleen Brown of Douglas, Mike Coury and Christopher Krack of Columbus, Ohio, and Carios Coury of Gillette; brother Jim Anderson of Glenrock; grandchildren Chris Anderson and Paul Anderson of Douglas, Trista Anderson of Greeley, Elizabeth Brown of Douglas, Michael Coury of Columbus, and Skyler Anderson of Portland; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Robert "Dale" Anderson, on March 20, 1995; first wife Donna Lee Anderson on Jan. 23, 1988; and grandson Richard Dale Anderson.

Serving as pallbearers will be Chris Anderson, Paul Anderson, Trista Anderson, Benny Middleton, George Falkenburg and Jim Fitzhugh, Honorary pallbearers will be all of his family and friends.

Memorials to Converse County Cancer Fund, in care of Pat hand, P.O. Box 49, Douglas, would be appreciated by the family.

Converse Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
