Charles Scott "Pop" Carlisle, 77, a resident of Converse county for 35 years, passed away Monday morning at Converse County Memorial hospital.

He was born March 17, 1876, in Butler county, Neb. He was married to Miss Sylvia Applegate October 3, 1900, and resided in Butler county until 1918 when they moved to Converse county, taking up a homestead.

After proving up on the homestead they moved into Douglas where he was employed with the LeBar Motor company and in 1923 he opened up his shoe shop, operating it continuously until his recent illness.

He was a member of the Masonic lodge in Douglas and had been a member of the Methodist church.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer Robinson of Boulder, Colo., and Mrs. Rodney Sundquist of Douglas; a son, Dale Carlisle of Eugene, Ore.; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A son, Walter, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday) from the Stark chapel by Rev. Kenneth Moore. Graveside Masonic rites will be conducted in Douglas Park cemetery.
