Services Held for John Chelewski
Unknown - September 26, 1957Funeral services for John Chelewski, 86, were held Wednesday morning at St. James Catholic church with the Rev. Martin Collet officiating. Interment was in the family plot in Douglas Park cemetery.
Mr. Chelewski, a long-time resident of Douglas, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Henry Pardee, in Denver, with whom he had made his home for the past seven years.
John Chelewski was born Dec. 11, 1871, in Chicago, Ill. He came to Orin in 1901 and homesteaded near Irvine in 1906. He was employed by the Chicago and Northwestern railroad for 21 years and then worked for the Town of Douglas for 20 years. He retired following the death of his wife in 1941 and went to Broken Bow, Nebr., to make his home with his son Edward.
Surviving are his son, Edward, now of Fruita, Colo.; three daughters, Mrs. Salamae Pardee of Denver, Mrs. Mary Wardell of Boise, Idaho, and Mrs. Clara Jameson of Casper; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Two sons and one daughter preceded him in death.
