Douglas Budget - July 2, 1970Funeral services for Elsworth Chambers were held at the Stark-Lapham mortuary chapel in Douglas, Wyoming Saturday, June 27, 1970 with the Reverend Clyde Thompson of the First Baptist church officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Park Cemetery with Douglas Lodge No. 15, IOOF, conducting graveside services.
Elsworth Chambers was born to Susan and John Chambers June 22, 1885 in Frontier County, Nebraska and passed away at Converse County Memorial Hospital on June 25, 1970.
He was united in marriage to Pearl Loretta Tracy Nov. 11, 1909 in Elwood, Nebr. To this union were born two sons, Harold and Wilbur. Preceding him in death were his wife and eldest son, Harold.
Elsworth Chambers moved with his family from Holbrook, Nebr. to Douglas, Wyo. in 1930. As a young man, he engaged in farming in Nebraska and Canada. He worked as a carpenter for many years. Upon leaving the carpenter trade, he operated the Converse Hotel in Douglas until his retirement.
He was an avid outdoorsman, spending much of his leisure time hunting and fishing. He was a long-time member of the Douglas Lodge No. 15, IOOF.
He is survived by one son, Wilbur; two grandchildren, Jeffrey Chambers and Michele Harrison; one brother, John, of Kearney, Nebr.; two sisters, Ethel Kluver of Roseburg, Oregon and Nellie Crawford of Ulyses, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Perry Alley, Clarence Davidson, Wm. Hansen, Durward Robertson, Eldon Rogers and Wilbur Taylor.
