Bill Barlows Budget - December 23, 1971Funeral services for longtime Douglas resident Clarence Edward Clark, 78, were held Friday, December 17 at Stark-Lapham Chapel, with the Rev. Robert Chaffin, pastor of the Assembly of God Church officiating. Mr. Clark died at his home December 15, following a lengthy illness.
He was born August 22, 1893 at Lomax, Ill., to Jesse and Cornelia Waterman Clark. He came to Wyoming in 1917 to homestead north of Douglas. On December 22, 1920 he married the former Ethel Ballard of Douglas. The couple resided on the homestead for a time before taking up residence in the Charles Addition, in northeast Douglas.
Clark, a contract carpenter for many years, built the home in which he and his wife had resided for over forty years. The Clarks had celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary.
Besides Mrs. Clark, survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Dick (Vivian) Titterington, Dubois; a son, Lee Clark, Shirley Basin; a half brother, Kenneth Wyatt, Rolla, Mo.; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A daughter, Helen, three sisters, a brother and two half-brothers preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Ed Russell, Jay Pittillo, Logan Bush, Perry Alley, Myerl Beck and Steve Henson.
Burial was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Those relatives and friends attending the funeral from a distance included Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Ballard, Colorado Springs, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Frank Mathson, Riverton; Bob Titterington and Mr. and Mrs. Dick Titterington, Dubois; Mrs. Joe Cavanaugh, Glenrock; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Clark, Shirley Basin and Mike Clark, Thermopolis.
