Gus Cook Found Dead in Cabin
Unknown - December 11, 1952Funeral services for August Cook were held yesterday afternoon at Stark's chapel. Rev. Kenneth Moore officiated and burial was in Douglas Park ceremony (cemetery). Mr. Cook was found dead Monday in his cabin at the White Lily Court. It is assumed that he died some time during the night. He was 73 years of age.
Mr. Cook had been a highly respected resident of this community for more than 50 years. He was born May 10, 1879, at Des Moines, Ia., the son of August and Mary Cook. He came to Wyoming when a young man and spent the greatest part of his life here on various ranches. He retired from active work and moved to town several years ago. He never married.
Survivors include two sisters and three brothers, all of whom reside in Iowa. One brother, Louis Cook, preceded him in death.
Pallbearers were Rolly Sadler, Heywood Picklesimer, F.A. Clough and Marcus Graves.
