Colwell, Esther (Messenger) (December 23, 1893 - May 8, 1966)
Unknown - May 12, 1966Esther Colwell, daughter of Converse County pioneers, died in her sleep Sunday morning, May 8 . . .one week and a day after the death of her sister, Sadie Delahoyde. Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 11, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Clyde Thompson officiating. Burial was in the Douglas Park cemetery.
Mrs. Colwell was born near Esterbrook, Wyoming, on the Frank Newell ranch December 23, 1893, the daughter of Charles and Mary Messenger. She had spent most of her life in the vicinity of Douglas.
She leaves to mourn her passing, a niece Dorothy Haworth of Manhattan Beach, California; an uncle Guy Newell, Sr., Douglas; and numerous cousins.
Pallbearers were Otto Bolln, Bob Gentle, Albert Clough, Alfred Kaufman, Dallas Powell and Chas. George.
