Thomas Crouse Passes Away
At the Hospital Wed. Night Funeral Services Planned for Saturday Afternoon-Was 70 Years of Age
Douglas Budget - July 3, 1941Death came to Thomas Crouse at the Douglas hospital Wednesday night at about 9:00 o'clock, following a long period of ill health. He was taken to the hospital Monday suffering greatly from paralysis of the intestines, an ailment resulting from a stroke suffered twenty years ago. Since that time he has been in a semi-invalid state. He died at the age of 70.
Thomas Emmett Crouse was born March 5, 1871 at Easton, Mo. His education and early life transpired in that state and Kansas.
On March 8, 1893, he was united in marriage to Miss Bertha Herda at Frankfort, Kan. In 1917 the Crouse family came to Wyoming and settled on a homestead north of Douglas in the Dry Creek community. They moved to Douglas about six years ago.
Mr. Crouse is survived by his widow, Mrs. Bertha Crouse; two daughters, Miss Nora Crouse and Mrs. H.O. Peterson of Douglas; two sons, Ivan of Walla Walla, Wash., and Emmett of Augusta, Kan.; three sisters, Mrs. Anna Gates of Stockton, Calif., Mrs. Betty Grable of Frankfort, Kan., and Mrs. Minnie Williams of Lecompton, Kan., and a brother, Ross Crouse of Stockton, Calif. He is survived also by five grandchildren.
Ivan Crouse came Tuesday and Mrs. Gates arrived Wednesday. It is possible that others will be here for the services.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Methodist church Saturday afternoon at 2:30, the Rev. W.W. Maxwell officiating. Burial will be in Douglas Park cemetery.
Omitted from the obituary of Thomas Crouse in last week's issue were the names of two daughters who preceded him in death. They were an infant daughter, Irene, who died December 11, 1922, and Mrs. Minnie Dilday, who passed away in Douglas on July 25, 1939. SOURCE DATE: 7/10/1941
