Unknown - March 29, 1962May Stoll Cunningham was born March 7, 1895 at Purdum, Nebraska, and after a series of heart attacks and complications, passed into the life eternal Sunday morning, March 11, at Inglewood, Cal.
May was still a child when her parents took their family to live on a farm two miles west of Johnstown, Neb., where she grew to womanhood.
She was graduated from the Ainsworth High School with the class of 1915 and attended Peru State Teachers College. She taught in rural school in South Brown County; and the primary grades in Merriman and Johnstown, Nebraska, and Lance Creek, Wyoming.
In May, 1924 she was united in marriage to Lyell Cunningham at Lusk, Wyoming. In 1930 they began operation of a general store at Shawnee, Wyoming, and later converted it into a fine coffee shop, service station, tourist cabin and store operation. At the time of her death May had been postmistress there for over 20 years.
She is survived by her husband, Lyell; one sister, Mrs. Ruby Miller of Valentine, Neb.; two brothers, Bernard of Valentine and Howard of Glenrock, Wyo.; besides other relatives and the many friends won by her charitable nature and wonderful personality.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
The funeral service was conducted at the Inglewood Mortuary. Interment was at the Golden West Mausoleum in Inglewood.
