Was One of the Big Stockmen of the West
Douglas Budget - November 9, 1916The death recently of W.G. Comstock, which occurred at his home in Denver, removes one of the best known and most prominent stockmen of the western country. His firm, the Richards & Comstock Company, has extensive holdings in this state, Nebraska and Montana, and Mr. Comstock was well known to the people of Douglas. The 77 ranch at Manville is the property of this company and is the largest in Niobrara county.
William G. Comstock was born in Utica, N.Y., on April 6, 1864. He came to the west in 1881, when but a boy, locating at Powderville, Montana. In 1887 he moved to western Nebraska, going into business with the late Bartolet Richards. The firm of Richards & Comstock grew with remarkable strides and is today and has been for years one of the big live stock companies of the west.
Mr. Comstock is survived by his wife. They had no children.
