Douglas Budget - April 17, 1986Funeral services for Harry M. Crawford, 98, will be Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with Reverend Robert Nuhn and Pastor Bill Tibbs officiating. Interment will be in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Crawford died Sunday at Michael Manor in Douglas following an extended illness.
The son of William and Almina Boggs Crawford, he was born Jan. 5, 1888 at Shenandoah, Iowa. He was reared and educated in Kansas. He married Bessie M. Fickle April 17, 1909 at Osceola, Iowa. They farmed in Iowa for a few years.
In 1917 they moved to Wyoming homesteading in the Flat Top area, 20 miles northeast of Douglas. He lived on the ranch until 1956, at which time he sold it and moved into Douglas. He worked at various jobs around Douglas and took care of their rental property during his retirement years. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas.
Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife of Douglas; one son, Merlyn of Douglas; one daughter, Freda Pearl Thatcher of Saint Maries, Id.; three sisters, Pearl Defenbaugh of Ottawa, Kans., Lena Patterson of Seattle, Wash., and Twyla Maclean of Chula Vista, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Wendell, in 1939; four brothers; and three sisters.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizens or to the Arthritis Foundation would be equally appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
