Samuel J. Cutler, resident of this county since 1916, died Friday, the immediate cause of death being the injuries when he fell and fractured a hip.

Mr. Cutler was a retired locomotive engineer, having been for many years in the service of the Union Pacific railroad. He came to Converse county in 1916 and located on a homestead south of Douglas and had been a resident of the county since. He is survived by his wife, Anna, a step-son of Seattle and Mrs. Fannie Wende of Buffalo, and a brother, Frank, of Buffalo. Mr. Cutler was a native of New York, having been born at Buffalo December 7, 1851.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Hubert Webster. Burial was in Douglas cemetery.
