MRS. ANNA CUTLER DIES AT
HOSPITAL TUESDAY Was Ill For Several Months - Funeral at Chapel Friday Afternoon
Douglas Budget - January 1, 1942Mrs. Anna Cutler, 73, passed away at the Douglas hospital at 2:30 Tuesday afternoon. She had been in ill health for several months. Her condition became alarming last Friday and she was removed to the hospital.
Funeral services will be held at the Hofmann chapel Friday afternoon at 2:30, with the Rev. Wm. Brandt in charge. Interment will be in Douglas Park cemetery.
Mrs. Cutler was born at Richmond, Ind., on January 31, 1869. She grew to womanhood in Richmond and in 1888 married George A. Jewell. The couple moved to Portland, Ore., and this was her home for many years. In 1912 she married Samuel J. Cutler and with her husband she came to Wyoming in 1916, locating on a homestead about eight miles southwest of Douglas. Mr. Cutler passed away in 1928 and is buried in the Douglas cemetery.
Shortly after her husband's death, Mrs. Cutler returned to Oregon. She returned to Douglas about 12 years ago and for five years managed the Wyoming hotel here for Mr. Jewell. For the past six years she had operated the Oasis Rooms on north Fifth street.
Mrs. Cutler made many friends in Douglas. She was a kind and sympathetic woman. She was a member of the Methodist church.
She is survived by one son, Robert F. Jewell, of Seattle, Wash. Mr. Jewell arrived in Douglas Wednesday evening, taking a plane as far as Billings and completing the trip to Douglas by train.
