Douglas Budget - May 28, 1987Funeral services for Harry Fred Carter, 91, will be Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at the Benson Funeral Chapel in Worthington, Minn., with Pastor Robert Jannereth of the Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be in the Worthington Cemetery.
Mr. Carter died Tuesday, May 26 at Michael Manor in Douglas following a short illness.
He was born Jan. 20, 1896 at Ocheydan, Iowa to John F. and Emma S. (Bobeck) Piscator. He attended country grade school near Worthington. He attended high school in Minneapolis, Minn. He received his bachelor degree from Minnesota Bible University in Minneapolis.
He married Lilly Meyer Aug. 25, 1920 at Farnhamville, Iowa. He worked and established ministeries in Iowa and Nebraska until 1945. Then he and his wife started missionary work by starting new churches throughout South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana.
He has been a resident of Douglas since the early 1970s.
He is survived by his daughter, Lois E. Gurney, of Livermore, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Ivan (Mamie) Bullock of Worthington; one granddaughter, Valerie Horton of Livermore; and one great grandson, Bobby Horton of Livermore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, August 19, 1976; and three brothers, Ted, Victor, and Oliver.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas, and the Benson Funeral Home of Worthington are in charge of the arrangements.
