Cook, Beatrice (Bea) (September 13, 1894 - 1977)
Douglas Budget - June 9, 1977Services for Miss Beatrice Cook were held at Christ Episcopal Church in Douglas on Tuesday, June 7th at 10 a.m. Father Stan VerStraten officiated. Burial followed at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Miss Cook (Bea) passed away at Michael Manor after a long illness.
She was born on September 13, 1894 in Douglas. Her parents were pioneers Archibald D. and Florence H. Cook.
After attending school in Douglas, she attended the University of Wyoming for two years. She went on for three years of nurses training at St. Luke's Hospital and Colorado General in Denver.
Miss Cook worked at the Denver General Hospital in the X-ray Department for nearly 25 years. She returned to Douglas in 1942 to work at the Converse County Memorial Hospital for the next 20 years. She retired from there several years ago because of ill health.
Miss Cook was a 50 years member of the Woodbine Chapter No. 18 O.E.S. She belonged to the nurses association and was a life time member of Christ Episcopal Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister and two brothers. She is survived by one sister, Mrs. William J. Smith (Nell), and many nieces and nephews, and many dear friends.
Serving as casket bearers were Steve Smith, Fred Smith, Gregg Harris, Don Cook, Dick Vandine and Milton Lefler.
