Douglas Budget - November 16, 1978Funeral services for Robert Cowell will be held Thursday Nov. 9, 1978 at 10:00 a.m. at the Schrader-Prell Funeral Chapel in Wheatland. Mr. Cowell died Nov. 7.
Robert Cowell was born June 8, 1904 in Plankington, So. Dakota, the son of Alvah and Mazie Cowell.
He spent his early years in Missouri and Iowa and moved to Nebraska with his family and worked for various ranches. He married his wife, Louise Brickel in Hot Spring on June 19, 1926 and they moved to Glendo, Wyo. where he was employed by a ranching operation until 1935.
He then moved to Douglas and Lusk where he was in the trucking business until 1942. He spent some time during the war in Canada and Alaska, working on war projects. In 1949, they moved to Wheatland where he has operated his own farm until the time of his retirement.
He was a past Volunteer Fireman and Odd Fellow member.
He is survived by his wife, Louise of Wheatland and one son Floyd Cowell of Wheatland, two brothers, Jim Cowell of Arizona and Bill Cowell of Colo. Surviving also is one sister, Isabelle Kassahn of Austin, Colo. and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
Funeral services were conducted in the Schrader-Prell Chapel on Thursday Nov. 9, 1978 with the Rev. Delbert Dick officiating. Burial was in the Wheatland Cemetery.
A Memorial has been established in his name to the Wheatland Senior Citizens.
