Curry, Ernest (Unknown - November, 1918)

Double Funeral Here Saturday

Douglas Budget - November 21, 1918

Edward Haggerty, age 25, and Ernest Curry, age 17, both residents of Wendover, were buried in the Douglas cemetery last Saturday morning. The former was in the military service, having left with the draft of October 23 for Camp MacArthur, California. He was stricken with influenza at that camp, his death following a short illness. In the meantime his brother-in-law, Ernest Curry, succumbed to the disease at his home near Wendover. To Mrs. Haggerty a bride of but a few months, came the double affliction in the loss of husband and brother.

Rev. W.H.L. Marshall conducted the funeral services for Ernest Curry and Father Adolph those for Edward Haggerty.

Out of the twenty-one men who left Platte county on October 23 seven have succumbed to influenza.
