Douglas Budget - April 22, 1976Funeral services for Leonard Arthur Cundall were held in Cody, Wyoming, Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church. Mr. Cundall died Tuesday evening, April 13 at the Park County Memorial Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for a heart attack he suffered on April 2.
Born July 23, 1921 at Elyria, Nebraska to William and Mollie Cundall. Leonard was the youngest of seven children. He came to Glendo when his parents moved here in April, 1927. The family ranched north of Glendo and Leonard attended the Glendo school.
Leonard joined the U.S. Marines in October, 1942. During World War II he saw action in the South Pacific, including the battles of Okinawa and Iwo Jima. While on leave from service he was married to Delores Lebsach of Wheatland on September 6, 1943. He received his discharge from service in March, 1946.
The Cundalls lived in the Wheatland area for some years where Leonard was engaged in ranch work. He was at one time employed at the McLeod ranch. In 1959, the family moved to Cody, where Leonard was self-employed as a heavy equipment owner-operator. He was a member of the Methodist Church and the American Legion.
Surviving are the widow, Delores, two daughters, Barbara Ellis and Kerri Cundall of Cody; one son, Russell Cundall of Casper, and three grandchildren; also sisters Mrs. Dorothy Sullivan of Rock Springs and Mrs. Viola Hughes of Glendo; brothers, John of Rapid City, South Dakota, George and Clyde of Glendo, and Don of Glenrock. All of the brothers and sisters attended Leondard's funeral.
Burial was at the Cody cemetery, where military honors were accorded. Pallbearers were veterans of military service.
