Clough, A.S. (November 15, 1834 - December 29, 1920)
Douglas Budget - December 30, 1920A.S. Clough, father of A.A. Clough of Douglas, died yesterday morning at 11 o'clock, at the home of Dr. H.G. Lynch, north of Douglas, where he had been living the last two months. He had been ill but a short time, his advanced age, he being 86, being the cause of death.
A.S. Clough was born in Vermont, November 15, 1834. His youth was spent in that state. He was one of the pioneer settlers of California, making the journey as a 49er over the old Overland trail and passing over the present site of Douglas. He spent a number of years in that state, later returning to the east. He lived for a number of years in Montreal, later moving to Council Bluffs, Ia. For the last fifteen years he had spent most of his time with his son in Douglas.
He is survived by his son and a daughter, Miss Charlotte Clough of Minneapolis, who will arrive tomorrow to attend the funeral.
Funeral services will be held at the Hofmann Chapel Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock. Burial will be in Douglas cemetery.
