Douglas Budget - November 18, 1982David S. Chitty, age 30, died Saturday, November 13, 1982 due to injuries received in an automobile accident near Douglas.
David the son of Joseph E. and Beverly L. Dixon Chitty was born October 19, 1952 in Pueblo, Colorado. He was reared and educated in Jackson, Wyoming, graduating from high school in 1971. He received an accounting degree from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. He received his teaching degree from the University of Wyoming in Laramie.
He was married to Lori J. Harvell on May 14, 1977 at the First Christian Church in Casper. They moved to Douglas in the fall of 1977, where David began teaching school. He has resided here until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Douglas Jaycees and was a basketball coach at the Douglas Middle School. He is survived by his parents of Mesa, AZ; his wife of Douglas; two sons, Kyle David Chitty and Neal Alan Chitty both of Douglas; two brothers, Joseph Lee Chitty of Denver, Co. and Charles Edward Chitty of Mesa, AZ.; one sister, Elizabeth Chitty of Casper, Wy.; and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Shirley and William Harvell of Casper, Wy. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 17, 1982 at 10:00 A.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Douglas with the Rev. Dan Abrams of First Baptist Church of Jackson, Wy. officiating. Interment was in the Highland Cemetery in Casper, Wy.
Serving as pallbearers were: Ken LeClair, John Berry, Kent Crawford, Jim Kueck, Mike Doyle, and Hunter Short.
A David S. Chitty Scholarship Fund for his sons has been established at the Converse County Bank, Drawer 689, Douglas, Wyoming. The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
