Douglas Budget - October 19, 1950Funeral services for Benjamin Collins, 61, long-time resident of the Glendo community, were held Monday afternoon at the Episcopal church at Glendo, with Bishop J. Wilson Hunter of Laramie and Rev. Henry Heaton officiating. Burial was in Douglas Park cemetery.
Mr. Collins, who died of a heart attack last Tuesday in Los Angeles, where he and Mrs. Collins were attending an American Legion convention, had lived at Glendo for more than 30 years. He was prominent in business circles and was an active worker in the Episcopal church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Roy Amick and Mrs. Morey Meyer; a brother, George; and one grandchild, all residing at Glendo.
Benjamin Franklin Collins was born March 25, 1889, in Arkansas, the son of Benjamin H. and Elizabeth Collins. He came to Wyoming with his family almost 50 years ago, living first at Guernsey. He also lived at Casper and Wheatland before settling at Glendo. On July 26, 1918, he was united in marriage at Wheatland with Miss Virginia Whitaker, who survives.
Mr. Collins had long been an ardent booster of his town and is responsible for much of its progress during the past 30 years.
