Douglas Budget - January 3, 1996Funeral services for Maxine Silver Cowger, 77, were Saturday, Dec. 30, at Converse Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bill Moore of the First United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment was in Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Cowger died Wednesday, Dec. 27, 1995, at the Saint Anthony Central Hospital in Denver.
She was born April 18, 1918, in Douglas to William and Charlotte (Barnard) Silver. Her siblings were Velma Edward and Earl Silver. She graduated from Douglas High School in 1936.
On April 17, 1938, she married Edwin Fowler Cowger. Her employment out of the home included seven years as secretary for Thunder Basin Grazing Association and Casper Labor's Union for nine years. She also volunteered for the American Heart Fund and American Cancer Society Foundation and held office in the women of the Moose in Douglas. Her hobbies included bowling, cards and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Edwin Cowger of Casper; daughters Vicki and husband Lynn Haines of Casper and Judie and husband Ron Robben of Lakewood, Colo.; sons Jeff Cowger and wife Jan of Gilbert, Ariz., and John Cowger and wife Susan of Cody; grandchildren Vicki Lynn and husband Moh Pirayesh with two great-grandchildren, Katie and Erick, all of Los Angeles, Calif., Debora Haines of Phoenix, Ariz., Brent, Stephanie and Scott Robben of Lakewood, Colo., Matthew and Carrie Cowger of Gilbert, Ariz., and Ryan and Adam Cowger of Cody.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister.
Serving as pall bearers were Brent Robben, Scott Robben, Matt Cowger, Dave Edwards, Lynn Haines and Ron Robben.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Ryan Cowger and Adam Cowger.
A memorial to the American Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
