Douglas Budget - June 2, 1993Funeral services for Elizabeth Conway, 66, were held May 31, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mentor, Minn., with Father Mike Pstnode officiating. Interment was in the Synod Cemetery in Erskine, Minn.
Mrs. Conway died May 26, 1993, at Riverview Nursing Home in Crookston, Minn.
She was born July 30, 1926, in Warren, Ohio, the daughter of John and Anna Burconus Gelum. She grew up and attended school in the Warren area.
Elizabeth moved to Long Beach, Calif., in 1951 where she met and married Jesse Conway on Oct. 19, 1951. They lived in the Southern California area until July 1965 when they moved to Douglas with their five children.
In 1978 they moved to Detroit Lakes, Minn., and later to Erskine. She resided in Erskine since that time.
She was a devote Catholic and was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church. In her early years, she worked outside the home.
Bowling was a love of hers, as was quilting, crocheting, baking and cooking for her family. Romance novels were he favorite.
Survivors include four daughters, JoAnn Conway of Casper, Linda and her husband Bob York, of Douglas, Janet Mann of Douglas, Teresa and her husband, Rocky Selby, of Port Angeles, Wash.; one son, David J. Conway of Owatonna, Minn.; seven grandchildren, Karen York, James York, Chad Mann, and Bridget Mann, all of Douglas, Brenda Mintle, Christine Mintle, and Jonny Selby, all of Port Angeles; one sister, Victoria M. Hailer of Rialto, Calif.; one brother, Robert J. Gelum of Warren, Ohio; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who passed away Aug. 22, 1992; her parents; and one sister.
Memorials to Pioneer Memorial Care Center in Erskine where Elizabeth received loving care for the past year would be appreciated by the family.
The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Erskine was in charge of the arrangements.
