Douglas Budget - September 24, 1987Funeral services for Margaret Christine Carlson, 71, were held Tuesday at the Congregational United Church of Christ with the Rev. Karen L. Clark officiating. Internment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery. Mrs. Carlson died Sept. 19 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 25, 1916 in Manville, the daughter of Daniel and Augusta (Wallin) Fackler. Mrs. Carlson was reared and educated in Manville, Douglas, and Casper, graduating from high school in Casper. She attended Chadron College in Nebraska and received her teaching certificate from the University of Wyoming.
Mrs. Carlson taught two years in rural schools west of Douglas. She was married to Irving Carlson June 6, 1939 at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas, and lived on the Carlson ranch west of Douglas with her husband, until they retired in 1984 and moved into Douglas.
She was a 4-H leader for 25 years, and was a member of the Congregational United Church of Christ, PEO, LaPrele Homemakers, and Circle at the church. Mrs. Carlson loved playing bridge, gardening, and her home.
She is survived by her husband, Irving, of Douglas; two brothers, Richard Fackler of Bonita, Calif. and Paul Newton Fackler of Anchorage, Alaska; two grandchildren, Anita Finnerty of Manhatten, Kan. and Carlson T. Akers of Douglas.
Mrs. Carlson was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Martie Akers, and two brothers, Thomas Fackler and D.C. Fackler.
Serving as pallbearers were Richard Burks, Joe Carmin, Lawrence Larson, Ben LeVasseur, Buzz Philbrick, and Fritz Roush.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were Earl Scott, Jim Thompson, Harry Johnston, Beef Bolln, Fred Grant, and Dick Strock.
A memorial to the Congregational United Church of Christ or to the Converse County Cancer Fund would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
