Douglas Budget - March 20, 1986Services for Bill Collins, 72, who died in Apache Junction, Ariz., March 9 were held March 14 in the Glendo Community Church in Glendo, with Chet Shaw, Minister.
Mr. Collins was born in Glendo Jan. 29, 1914, to George and Queen Collins. He was raised on the family homestead near Glendo and graduated from Glendo High School.
He worked on a CCC Camp in Big Piney and was transferred to California. He returned to Glendo and traveled the west with his father in the sheep shearing business before he became associated with various construction firms working as a carpenter.
His carpentry and millwright work took him to jobs in Kemmerer, Gillette, Chugwater, Green River, and Pathfinder Dam.
On Jan. 1, 1975 he retired from his last project on the Dave Johnston Power Plant in Glenrock.
He and his wife have spent their retirement years operating the Collins Corral Trailer Court in Glendo and spending their winters in Arizona.
Besides his wife, Elva(Spaulding) Collins, he is survived by three sons; Phillip Collins of Fort Collins, Colo., David Colllins of Torrington, John Collins of Glendo; two brothers; Buck and Crip Collins, both of Glendo; two sisters; Una Ann Lee of Fresno, California, Virginia Jenkins of Ventura, California, and five grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Melvin, Charlie, Woodrow, Fay, Henry, J.B., and by sister Margaret.
A memorial in his name has been established to the Glendo Community Church.
Burial was in the Horseshoe Cemetery.
Schrader-Prell Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
