Douglas Budget - October 22, 2003A graveside memorial service for F. Gretchen Clemens, 84, will be held at 2 p.m., Oct. 25 at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington with Rev. Peggy Brown officiating.
Mrs. Clemens died Oct. 19, 2003, at Heritage Club of Greenwood Village in Denver after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born April 13, 1919, in Wellington, Colo., to Walter and Vera (Michaels) Scheerer. She moved with her family at the age of 3 to Torrington, where she was educated and graduated from high school.
On Sept. 7, 1943, she married her high school sweetheart John Clemens in Chicago. To this union, three children were born.
Mrs. Clemens was an active member of First Wyoming Presbyterian Church in Torrington; First United Methodist Church in Douglas; First Presbyterian Church in Grand Junction, Colo.; and the Grand Junction Symphony Guild. She was a 50-year member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood.
She enjoyed playing bridge, gardening and traveling the world and the backroads of Colorado.
She is survived by daughter Joyce and husband Richard Larsen of Grand Junction; son Stephen and wife Kathleen Clemens of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter Marilyn Clemens of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and her husband John in 1980.
Memorials in her memory to Agape Hospice Foundation, 6041 S. Syracuse Way, Suite 220, Greenwood Village, Colo., 80111, would be appreciated by the family.
