Graveside services for Earl S. Carter, 96, were held Wednesday, April 15, at the Douglas Park Cemetery with Pastor M.J. Elliott officiating.

Mr. Carter died Saturday, April 11, at the Cheyenne Health Center in Cheyenne following a long illness.

He was born July 7, 1888 at Webster City, Iowa to Jim and Mary Carter. As a child he lived in Oklahoma and Texas and after his father's death he moved to Minnesota to be near his brother. He lived in the Douglas area and then in the early 1930s he moved to Nebraska and then to Minnesota. He was a farmer and rancher.

In 1983 he moved back to Douglas and then in February, 1987 he moved to Cheyenne.

He is survived by his two daughters, Arlene Hicklin of Cheyenne and Irene Henderson of Purdy, Mo.; five grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and one great great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mabel Carter, August 11, 1986; one brother, Frank Carter; and two half sisters.

A memorial to the choice of the donor would be equally appreciated by the family.

The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
