Douglas Budget - December 8, 1993Funeral services for Fern L. Curtis, 85, were held Dec. 7, at the Converse Funeral Chapel in Douglas, with Pastor Harold Thornbrough of the First Southern Baptist Church officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Curtis died Friday, Dec. 3, 1993, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper.
She was born July 29, 1908, in Burton, Neb., the daughter of Jud and Amanda (McCraken)Humphrey. She was reared and educated in South Dakota, Nebraska and Wyoming. She was married to Robert A. Curtis on April 30, 1927, in Fort Collins, Colo. They lived on homesteads in Albany and Converse counties. They owned and operated the Moss Agate Ranch in southern Converse County. She was an avid hunter and rock hound. She was involved in 4-H as a leader, a member of the school board, Farm Bureau, and was past president of Douglas-Jackalope Gem Club.. She also owned and operated a rock shop in Douglas for four years.
She is survived by her two children, Robert D. Curtis and Constance M. Rodeman both of Douglas; one sister, Louise Hogmire of Madras, Ore.; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
she was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Oct. 19, 1990; one daughter, Frances F. Demmer, on July 23, 1993; one granddaughter, Jeraldine York; five brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers were John Ralph Sullivan, Richard Jackson, Leroy Sanford, Bill Leman, Leon Chamberlain III and Del Walker.
Honorary pallbearers were all of her family, friends and neighbors.
A memorial to the Wyoming Pioneer Association, P.O. Box 1545, Douglas, WY 82633 would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
