George William Cundall
Douglas Budget - June 16, 1993Services for George William Cundall, 79, will be held Wednesday, June 16, 1993, at 10 a.m. at the Glendo Community Church in Glendo, with Rev. Linda Barnes of the Wheatland United Methodist Church officiating.
Mr. Cundall died June 13, 1993, at the Platte County Memorial Hospital in Wheatland.
He was born Dec. 25, 1913, at Sutton, Neb., the son of William and Mary "Molly" (Dennis) Cundall, the third of seven children.
He attended the Elkhorn Country School and then continued his education at Glendo where he graduated from high school.
Upon graduation he was a member of the CCC Camp and later worked as a ranch hand for the Morton Ranch of Douglas.
During this time he met Serena Brewer of Glendo, and married her on July 16, 1938, in Harrison, Neb.
They then worked for Leroy Moore at Nine Mile Ranch north of Douglas and the Woody May Ranch during the 1940s.
They came back to the Cundall Homestead where they ranched and in later years did contract haying in the Glendo area.
George enjoyed going to Glendo for coffee with his friends.
George is survived by his wife, Serena of Glendo; two sons, Dale Cundall of Belle Fourche, S.D., and Dean Cundall of Glendo; two sisters, Viola Hughes and Dorothy Sullivan both of Glendo; two brothers, Don Cundall of Glenrock, and Clyde Cundall of Wheatland; four grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, John and Leonard.
Serving as pallbearers will be Clyde Cundall, Don Cundall, Truman Cundall, David Cundall, Gary Cundall, and Jim Wilson.
Memorials to the Glendo Ambulance Fund or the Glendo Community Church would be appreciated by the family.
