Coldiron, Margaret (Rhoads) (December 13, 1912 - March 28, 1994)
Douglas Budget - April 6, 1994Margaret Coldiron, 81, a former Campbell County resident and teacher, passed away on March 28, at the Converse County Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were conducted on April 1 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Gillette, with Reverend Dr. Tom Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Gillette Mount Pisgah Cemetery.
Margaret was born on Dec. 31, 1912, in Paris, Illinois to Edgar F. and Mary Grace (Gill) Rhoads. In the spring of 1916, she and her family moved to Gillette where she attended schools, graduating from Campbell County High School in 1932. On Aug. 16, 1932, she married Halley Coldiron in Rapid City, S.D.
Together they homesteaded in Campbell County where Margaret taught rural school for the Campbell County School District, for one year. From the late 1930s they farmed, ranched and raised sheep on the homestead, until their retirement in 1982, when they moved into Gillette.
In July of 1993, Margaret moved to the McComb Retirement Home where she had resided since.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gillette and the Moose Heart Lodge of Gillette.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, square dancing and reading.
She is survived by three daughters, Sandra Lange and husband, Bill, of Douglas, Peggy Sullivan and husband, Don, of Colorado Springs, Colo. and Rae Broyles and husband, Warren, of Lusk; three sisters, Jeanne Schellphffer of Los Angeles, Calif.; Merle Lowery and Myrna Heiland both of Gillette; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, Carlyle Rhoads and one granddaughter, Sarah Broyles.
A memorial has been established to the Wyoming Alzheimers Association and donations may be made to the Noecker Funeral Home, P.O. Box 734, Gillette, WY 82717-0734, who was in charge of the arrangements.
