Douglas Budget - October 27, 1993Funeral services for Halley G. Coldiron, 81, will be held at 2 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette. Rev. Dr. Tom Phillips will be officiating. Interment will follow in the Gillette Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Mr. Coldiron died Saturday, Oct. 23, 1993, at the Wyoming Medical Center in Casper following a very brief illness.
Mr. Coldiron was born Oct. 12, 1912, at Page, Neb., to Renick and Rozetta O.(Kesler) Coldiron. In 1918, Halley moved with his parents to their homestead south of Gillette. He received his education at rural schools and helped his dad who worked for Salt Creek Freightways, in addition to developing their homestead. Through the 1930s he also worked for Shorty McGinnis on the Powder River and George Brandner as a sheephearder. He married Margaret Rhoads on Aug. 16, 1932, in Rapid City, S.D. From the late 1930s until their retirement in 1982 he farmed his ranch and raised sheep. They also maintained a residence in Gillette.
He had lived in Douglas for the past several months as a resident of the McComb Retirement Home. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gillette and a former member of the Gillette Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret of Douglas; three daughters, Mrs. Bill "Sandy" Lange of Douglas, Mrs. Don "Peggy" Sullivan of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Mrs. Warren "Rae" Broyles of Lusk; six grandsons; one granddaughter and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a granddaughter, Sarah Broyles, in 1967.
