Douglas Budget - September 2, 1992Funeral services for Jesse Melvin Conway, 64, were held Aug.26, at The Grace Lutheran Church in Erskine, Minn. with Pastor Kwen Sanderson officiating. Interment was in the Synod Cemetery in Erskine, Minn.
Mr. Conway died suddenly Saturday, Aug. 22, 1992 at the Fosston Municipal Hospital.
He was born Feb. 5, 1928 in Stevenson, Minn. to parents Jesse and Grace Bernard Conway.
He grew up and attended school in Stevenson. He entered the U.S. Navy at the age of 17 and was honorably discharged on Oct. 15, 1954.
Jesse was united in marriage to Elizabeth Gellum on Oct. 19, 1951 in San Diego, Calif. They resided in southern California until 1965 when they moved to Douglas where Jesse worked on area ranches.
In 1978 they moved to Detroit Lakes, Minn. and lived there until 1985 when they moved to Erskine, Minn.
Jesse has been employed by the State of Minnesota since 1989 as a commercial vehicle inspector.
His is survived by his wife,, Elizabeth; daughters, JoAnn Conway of Casper, Linda (Mrs. Bob) York of Douglas; Janet (Mrs. Robert) Mann of Douglas; and Teresa (Mrs. Rocky) Selby of Port Angeles,, Wash.; son, David J. Conway of Owatonna, Minn.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Isabelle (Mrs. James) Richardson of Mt. Gilead, N.C. and brothers, James Conway of Appleton, Wis.; Chester Conway of N.C.; and Clifford Conway of Reno, Nev.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Serving as pallbearers were James York, Chad Mann, Ronald Nelson, Mark Nelson, Jim Hoffman, and Mike O'Neil. Honorary pallbearers were the State Highway Patrol Employees.
Military honors were presented by the Bailey-Throne American Legion Post of Erskine, Minn., of which Mr. Conway was also a member.
The Carlin-Hoialmen Funeral Home of Fosston, Erskine and McIntosh, Minn. were in charge of the arrangements.
