Douglas Budget - July 3, 1991Funeral services for Marjorie Jean Carroll, 74, were held Thursday, June 27, at the Congregational United Church of Christ in Douglas, with Rev. Merrill Lanker officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery with the Mountain Valley Rebekah Lodge #15 conducting graveside rites.
Mrs. Carroll died Monday, June 24, 1991 at her home in Douglas.
She was born Feb. 26, 1917 in Indiana, the daughter of Carlos and Agnes (Amsden)Miller. She came to Wyoming with her parents in 1919. They lived northeast of Douglas, where she attended school.
She was married May 13, 1945 to Herbert J. "Red" Carroll. They made their home in Douglas where they owned and operated Red's Cowboy Shop until his death on Aug. 1, 1968. Jean retired in 1988 after working 40 years at the Vaughn Ragsdale/Anthony's Clothing Store in Douglas.
She was a member of the Mountain Valley Rebekah Lodge #15, the American Legion Auxiliary #8, and the Women of the Moose, all in Douglas.
She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Marguerite (Carroll) Backer of Tucson, Ariz., and Elsie Carroll of Lander, Wyo., several nieces and nephews, and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one aunt; and one uncle.
Serving as pallbearers were Jim Burns, Wayne Squires, Bud Paronto, Earl Shatto, John Paronto and Max Squires.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were all of her many friends.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
