Douglas Budget - December 12, 1990Funeral services for Evelyn M. Collins, 85, will be held Thursday, Dec. 13, at 2 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Douglas, with Pastor Dan Hickman officiating. Private interment will be held at the Douglas Park Cemetery in Douglas at a later time.
Mrs. Collins died Monday, Dec. 10, 1990 at the Converse County Memorial Hospital in Douglas following a short illness.
She was born April 6, 1905 in Ryanville, Quebec, Canada, the daughter of Martin and Mary (McCormick) Ryan. She was reared and educated in Quebec, attending the Aylmer Convent in Quebec.
She was married to Joseph G. Collins on Oct. 10, 1939 in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She came to the United States on Jan. 1, 1940, living in Scranton, Pa. In 1959 she left Scranton and moved to Marin County, Calif., and then in 1985 moved to Douglas because of ill health. The past two years she has lived at Michael Manor.
She had a great sense of humor and her smile will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She enjoyed oil and water color painting, winning a ribbon at the Wyoming State Fair two years ago. She also enjoyed gardening in her younger years.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anderson, son-in-law, Jim Anderson both of Douglas; and six grandchildren, Chris Marcus, Mike Marcus, Ryan Marcus, and Sara Trujillo all of Douglas; Jason and his wife Tracy Marcus of Stonington, Conn., and Alyanna Marcus of Kirkland, Wash. and Douglas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on July 3, 1973; seven brothers, and five sisters.
A memorial to the choice of the donor would be appreciated by the family.
