Carey, father of Mrs. Martha Sears Friedman of Casper, formerly of Douglas, died at his home in Venice, Calif., December 24, aged 92 years, 6 months and 9 days. He was born at Peterboro, N.H., June 11, 1832. In 1863 he was married to Martha J. Procunier. They were the parents of five children, one dying in infancy. Those who survive are Mrs. W.O. Lockridge of Craigmont, Ida., Mrs. Addie Otey of Thermopolis, Mrs. Harriet R. Grove of Moneta, Calif., and Mrs. Sears Friedman.
Mr. Carey's life has been spent principally along the frontiers and in railroad shops of this country. Raised on a farm, at an early age, he entered railroad shops at New York City and completed a thorough course there, taking up the railroad business for many years. Later he returned to farming and stock-raising, principally on the frontiers.
