Douglas Budget - August 20, 2003Funeral services for Charles Andrew Connolly, 61, were held Monday at the First Baptist Church in Douglas with Pastor Frank Wiederrecht officiating.
Mr. Connolly died Aug. 14, 2003, at his home near Douglas.
He was born Jan. 3, 1942, in Batavia, N.Y., the son of Charles R. and Marian E. (Lehman) Connolly. He was reared and educated in Ulysses, Penn. He was married to Bernice D. Schmidt, his wife of 40 years.
Most of his younger years were spent working as an over-the-road truck driver. His last 12 years were spent at home enjoying life, spending time with his family and enjoying nature. He like watching birds, especially humming birds, and playing with his grandchildren. He was also an avid sports fan, especially football and racing.
He is loved and remembered by his wife, Bernice, of Douglas; eight children and their spouses, Timothy (DaNene) Connolly of Brockport, Penn., Thlean (Steve) Martinez, Duane (Valieta) Connolly, Clyle (Elisha) Connolly, Shawn (Dawn) Connolly, Shane (Melissa) Connolly, Bridget (Chad) Monroe, and Charley (Jimmy) Seales, all of Douglas; 28 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five sisters; and two brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Gorman Funeral Home-Converse Chapel was in charge of the arrangements.
