Graveside services for Betty Lou Christy, 81, will be held at 1 p.m. Dec. 4, at Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. A coffee time with the family will follow at First United Methodist Church in Torrington.

Mrs. Christy died Nov. 30, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Converse County.

She was born Oct. 8, 1922, in Torrington, to Vernon and Myrtle (Galloway)Fry. She was raised and educated in Torrington, graduating from high school there in 1939.

On May 10, 1939, she married Lee Christy in Hot Springs, S.D. They settled in Torrington where her husband operated a service station until he passed away in 1979.

An Avon representative for nearly 20 years, Mrs. Christy made lifelong friendships along her route in the Torrington area. For more than 30 years she enjoyed playing cards with the same pinochle club. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church.

Her other interests included square dancing, crocheting and reading. She always faithfully completed the daily crossword puzzle. Her dearest interests were those closest to her heart, her children and grandchildren.

In February 1998, she moved to Douglas to be closer to her family.

Survivors include her sons Tom Christy and wife Betty of Douglas and Dan Christy and wife Lorie of Laramie; daughter Jane Holler and husband Leonard of Douglas; sisters Ruby Barnett of Colorado Springs and Ruth Semroska of Buffalo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son Charles Christy; and her brother Wayne Fry.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chad Holler, Justin Christy, Jeremy Christy, Mindi Cudney, Jami Jugler, Traci Logan and all of her many friends.

A memorial to the Alzheimer Affiliations of Wyoming, P.O. Box 1493, Casper, 82601, would be appreciated by the family.

Gorman Funeral Homes-Converse Chapel of Douglas is in charge of the arrangements.
