Douglas Budget - December 5, 1985Donald H. "Harry" Austin of Lusk died Nov. 17, at the age of 96.
Mr. Austin was born Dec. 21, 1888, at Fetterman, the son of Charles and Mathilda Campbell Austin. He spent his early years near Douglas. Following his discharge from the Army, he was employed by Petyon-Bolln Grocery Company in Douglas until moving to Lusk 1930.
He married Edna Senters in St. James Catholic Church in Douglas April 24, 1918. For many years they operated Gay's Cage and the Lusk Econ-o-Wash. He retired from business in 1973.
A veteran of World War I and a 65-year member of the American Legion, he served as commander and adjustant of the American Legion Post Samuel Mares No. 8 in Douglas and Derk J. Weiten Post No. 4 in Lusk. He was also a Boy Scout master in Douglas and Lusk.
He is survived by his wife, Edna of Lusk; two daughters, Maxine Koch of Arlington, Va., and Louise Lawrence of Porterville, Calif.; a brother, John Austin of Apache Junction, Ariz.; a sister, Margaret Averill of Porterville; six grandchildren and one great-grandson. he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Marie, four brothers and three sisters.
Mass of the resurrection was celebrated by Fr. Tony Jablonowski at St. Leo's Catholic Church Friday, Nov. 22. Burial was in Lusk Cemetery.
