Memorial services were held Saturday, April 27 at the Senior Citizens Clubhouse in Santa Cruz, California, for a former Glendo resident, Fay Collins.

Mr. Collins died at his home in Santa Cruz on April 24, 1985.

The son of George and Queen Caldwell Collins, who homesteaded near Glendo in 1906. Fay was raised at Glendo and attended the local schools.

Recalling his early life in the community, Fay Collins wrote in the book "Wyoming Platte County Heritage" that his memories began in about 1916, when he was five years old.

He started to school in a log school house located about one mile north of Glendo, walking the two miles to school each day with his brother, Charles. Later, in about 1921, another one-room school was built closer to the Collins house, with all eight grades being taught. Fay attended high school in Glendo.

He and Alice Moses were united in marriage in 1935.

Survivors include his wife, Alice; his son Dick and wife Barbara of Los Altos; son Gary and wife Jerri of Truckee, Calif., and four grandchildren; three brothers, Bill, George, and Robert, all of Glendo; two sisters, Virginia Jenkins and Una Ryff of Calif.; a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

He was predeceased by one sister and five brothers, one of whom died in infancy.

At the memorial service in Santa Cruz, the eulogy was delivered by Fay's son, Gary Collins. Immediately following the service, a carry-in dinner was served by the Collin's friends in the park.
