Mr. Connor died Saturday Sept. 8 of injuries from an automobile accident near Manville. He was born Sept. 13, 1974, in Scottsbluff, Neb., to Phyllis M. Leetch Connor. He was reared and educated in Scottsbluff and Mitchell, Neb., until the family moved to Casper in 1984. He attended Mountain View Elementary and Dean Morgan Junior High School in Casper. The family moved to Glendo in 1988 where he graduated from Glendo High School in 1993.
The summer following graduation, Mr. Connor worked for Rissler McMurry and various other construction jobs. In February 1999 he got his commercial driver's license and drove truck for Engling Trucking of Glendo, later driving for Shoop and Yost of Greeley, Colo. In April 2000, he went back to work for Rissler and McMurry where he was employed at the time of his death.
Mr. Connor was a person never met a stranger no matter where he was. He always thought about and cared about everybody else before himself. He carried a smile on his face and his heart on his sleeve. There was never a dull moment when Mr. Connor was around, and, with his innocent mischief, he could lift your spirits no matter how grim the situation seemed. He was not only a son, brother and best friend to all those he associated with but a knight in shining armor to some.
Mr. Connor is survived by his mother, Phyllis M. Whitaker of Glendo; fiance Carma and daughter LeKisha of Glendo; sisters Janice and husband Tony Avila of Mitchell, Judy and husband Bo Gitschel of Minatare, Neb., and Cindy and husband Gary Carsten of Crane, Mo.; brothers Mike and wife Debbie Whitaker of Greeley, Colo., Dale Connor of Alliance, Neb., and Dean Whitaker and fiance Jarla of Glendo; maternal grandmother Grace Leetch of Marsland, Neb.; numerous aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins; and many, many friends.
