Douglas Budget - April 12, 1995Funeral services for Harold Stanley Coe, 81, were held Thursday, April 6, 1995, at the Converse County Funeral Home in Douglas.
The Rev. Merrill Lanker of Congregational United Church of Christ officiated. Interment was at the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Coe died Tuesday, April 4, at Converse County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 9, 1913, in Cedar Rapids, Neb. to Grover and Mary Leiber Coe. He was raised and lived Wolbach, Neb.
He married Mabel Rasmussen on May 22, 1933, in Wolbach. They had been married almost 62 years.
He served as mayor and fire chief in Wolbach and worked as a mechanic.
He worked at Douglas Motors in 1940 and also for Jimmy Gibb. He moved to Douglas permanently in 1964 and assumed the duties of service manager at the Ford Garage, where he remained until his retirement in 1978.
After retiring, Harold and Mabel spent 12 years wintering in Arizona and many happy hours in their motor home.
He is survived by his wife; one daughter, Virginia Layman of Douglas; one grandson, Dennis Layman of Cheyenne; two great-grandchildren, Robby Layman of Lyman and Karla Layman of Kingman, Ariz.; one great-great-grandson, Christopher Layman of Cheyenne; and two brothers, Cecil of Douglas and Ronald of Glendo.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Irene Yasuleviez.
Pallbearers were Don Kraft, Don Anderson, Bill Tschacher, Bob Burden, Jessie Roediger and Bud Alexander.
A memorial to the Douglas Senior Citizen Center would be appreciated by the family.
