Judge E.E. Cushman Claimed

January 25

Douglas Enterprise - February 8, 1944

Residents here have learned of the death January 25 at Tacoma, Wash., of Judge Edward Everett Cushman at the age of 78 years.

Old timers around Douglas will remember him as he visited here every year for several years en route to his cabin near Esterbrook which is built on the old homestead that belonged to his mother 50 years ago.

Judge Cushman, federal district judge in Alaska for three years and in Tacoma for 26 years, and Mrs. Cushman and their grandsons spent many vacations at their cabin until the summer of 1939 when his health failed. They had planned on coming to the cabin next summer.

His mother taught the first school in Douglas.
