Douglas Budget - June 9, 2010Betty Crane, 84, passed away peacefully June 1, 2010, in Casper surrounded by family and the caring staff of Shepherd of the Valley Care Center.
She was born June 12, 1925, to C.Henry and Grace Trask in Philadelphia. Betty and her brother, Jim, spent their summers in Rehobeth Beach, Del. She graduated from Duke University where she met her future husband, Richard Crane. They made their home in the Philadelphia area, where they reared three daughters, after which they moved to Greensboro, N.C., and finally to Wyoming to be near their daughter and family.
In addition to being a wonderful wife and mother, Betty enjoyed needlework, painting, tennis, helping with the St. Andrews Episcopal Church bazaar, playing cards, collecting seashells, and watching "M*A*S*H" and "Regis and Kathie Lee/Kelly."
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dick; children Carolyn "Candy" Zechiel and her husband Robert "Zeke" of Douglas; Elizabeth "Buffy" Gehring and her husband Jon of Hudson, Wis.; and Melissa "Missy" Gamble and her husband Bob of Harrison, Tenn.; grandchildren Elizabeth Ostrander, Anna Frogge, Michael Zechiel, David and Molly Gehring and Richard Gamble; six great-grandchildren; brother Jim Trask and his wife Cay of Wilmington, Del.; and many nieces and nephews.
Betty's fiery red hair matched her fierce love and devotion to her family and friends. She will be deeply missed, but her remarkable spirit will live on in the memories of those who loved her.
A private family gathering will be held at a future date.
