Douglas Budget - UnknownFuneral services for Walter Lee Davies, 71, were held Monday at the Converse Funeral Chapel with Reverend Harry B. Randall, III, officiating. Interment was in the Douglas Park Cemetery.
Mr. Davies died Jan. 22, 1989 at his home in Douglas following an extended illness.
Mr. Davies, the son of Jim and Ellen (Austin) Davies, was born Nov. 20, 1914 in Douglas. He lived at Fort Fetterman and attended school at Orpha, and worked for various ranches in Converse County as a young man. Mr. Davies was married to Edna Hiser Nov. 1, 1933 in Douglas and worked for the Town of Douglas for 31 years, retiring in 1978 as Superintendent.
He enjoyed camping and fishing in his retirement years and also worked at the Wyoming State Fairgrounds during the summer.
Mr. Davies was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Douglas.
He is survived by his widow of Douglas; two sons, Elias "Shorty" Davies of Wheatland, and Melvin Davies of Wright; three brothers, Jim Davies of Glenrock; and Tom and Don Davies both of Basin; eight grandchildren; and three great grandchildren.
Mr. Davis was preceded in death by his parents, two sons, one daughter and two grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers were Don Clausen, Charles Davies, Tim Davies, Ron Davies, Sam Davies and Mike Davies.
Honorary pallbearers were Jack Hanlin, Jim Roush, Bob Sullivan, Larry Hall, Charles Read, Art Howard, Jim Robinson and Bill Gentle.
A memorial to the Converse County Cancer Fund or to the Douglas Senior Citizens will be appreciated by the family.
The Converse Funeral Chapel of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
