Douglas Budget - UnknownServices for Elias "Shorty" Davies, 54, were held Oct 14 at the True Ranch (the old Alden Prosser ranch), located at the west end of Goodrich Road off the North Hightower Road, near Wheatland, with Clint Loyd officiating. Inurnment was at the True Ranch.
Mr. Davies died Oct. 9, 1991 at his home in Wheatland following an illness with cancer.
He was born Dec. 30, 1936 in Douglas, the son of Walter Lee and Edna May (Hiser) Davies. He was reared and educated in Douglas, graduating from the Douglas High School.
He was married to Nancy Norton on Jan. 30, 1971 in Douglas. They moved to Wheatland that year where he worked as a ranch hand at the Two Bar Ranch, and then worked for True Ranches.
He was a 4-H leader for several years. The hobbies he liked to do were team roping, hunting, and doing various things in the outdoors.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Future Farmers of America, and an honorary Chapter Farmer member.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Wheatland; his mother, Edna May Davies, of Douglas; three sons, Robert Jay Davies of Billings, Mont., Timothy Paul Davies of Wheatland, and Patrick R. Davies of San Mateo, Calif.; one brother, Melvin Davies of Wright, Wyo.; and two grandchildren, Tasha Craig of Wheatland and Beau Allen Davies of San Mateo.
He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Harry Lee Davies and Charles LeRoy Davies; and one sister, Mary Ellen Davies.
Serving as honorary pallbearers were all of his very dear friends, employees of the True Ranches, and the staff at the Platte County Memorial Hospital.
A memorial to the Platte County 4-H Leader Scholarship Fund, 1851 Oak Street, Wheatland, Wyo. 82201 would be appreciated by the family.
The Platte Funeral Chapel of Wheatland was in charge of the arrangements.
