Daniels, Joseph Melton (December 1, 1874 - November 11, 1958)
Douglas Enterprise - November, 1958Joseph Melton Daniels was born in Sheridan, Missouri December 1, 1874, and departed this life Nov. 11, 1958, at the age of 83 years, 11 months and 11 days. He was a resident of Thermopolis, Wyo., and passed away in the Casper Memorial hospital.
He was married to Grace Young at Sheridan on Dec. 20, 1894. Four sons were born to this union; Chester, Guy (who died in infancy), Roy, and Dennie. Mrs. Daniels passed away April 27, 1908.
In 1910, he was united in marriage with Ella Petett and to this union were born two children, Marie and Wayne.
In the spring of 1913, the family moved to Tripp County in South Dakota, where Mr. Daniels farmed in the Wamela vicinity until 1920 when they moved to a homestead north of Douglas, Wyo. Here Mr. Daniels ranched until his health failed and he became so crippled he could no longer remain on his feet or in the saddle. He has lived in Thermopolis because of ill health since 1943. Mrs. Daniels preceded him in death on April 19, 1953.
He leaves to mourn his passing his sons, Roy of Page, Ariz.; Dennie of Wampa; Wayne of Shoshoni, Wyo., and his daughter, Marie Middleton of Douglas; 19 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services were held at the Horstman Funeral Home in Casper on November 15 and the remains were sent to Sheridan, Missouri for burial in the family plot.
