Unknown - August, 1962Funeral services were held August 23, 1962 at the Chapel of the Angels in Lakewood, Colo., for Mrs. Wanda I. Davis who passed away at her home in Morrison, Colo. August 20.
The Rev. Oren Shannon of the Morrison Community Church officiated at the services. Burial was in the family plot at Harrison, Neb. on Friday, August 24.
Mrs. Davis was born July 9, 1874 in Shelby, Ohio, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward F. Pontius. She spent her early childhood in towns of South Dakota and eastern Nebraska. She moved to Harrison with her parents in 1891, where she was joined in marriage with William Henry Davis on March 21, 1894. To this union 3 children were born, Dee P. Davis of Clearfield, Utah; Clarence V. Davis of Olympia, Wash.; and Mercy Elizabeth Peinze of Morrison, Colo. She also leaves to mourn her passing, a sister in Casper, Mrs. Jennie O'Connor; two grandsons, Dee Frederick Davis of Roy, Utah; William Terry Davis of San Jose, Cal.; one granddaughter, Mrs. Janet Bartram of Hanford, Cal.; and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Davis left Harrison in 1917 for Douglas, Wyo., where Mr. Davis was associated with the First National Bank for many years. He also served as Postmaster and with the John Morton Estate. He preceded in death in April 1948.
In 1935 they came to Morrison where Mrs. Davis has since resided. At the early age of ___ she became a member of the Methodist Church at Oakland, Neb. In the years spent in Harrison and Douglas she was a faithful worker in all church, lodge and civic activities. She was a charter member of the Royal Neighbors of America at Crawford, Neb., and a member of Woodbine Chapter No. 18, Order of the Eastern Star of Douglas, Wyo.
